The National Park
La Grange de Bâa is located at the foot of the National Park. Created in 1967, it protects the Réserve du Néouvielle, an exceptional natural area of 50,000 hectares.
It extends over the Hautes-Pyrénées and Pyrénées-Atlantiques, along the Spanish border, over nearly 100 kilometers and 3 to 5 kilometers wide.
Backed by the Spanish National Park of Ordessa, the Pyrenees National Park is home to major sites such as the Pic du Midi d'Ossau, the Balaitous, Vignemale, Néouvielle, cirques of Gavarnie and Troumousse, peaks above 3,000 m.
You will admire the high mountain waterfalls, enormous forests and numerous lakes. The gaves of the Adour and Nestes have their source there.
A specific fauna lives in the National Park.
Some of these species are unique in France such as bears in the Aspe and Ossau valleys, 2500 wild goats, bearded vultures, grouses, white partridges, birds of prey that live in the Park where they nest. Thanks to the combination of altitude, orientation, and soil type, the flora of the Pyrenees is very diverse: rhododendrons, daffodils, blue irises, Edelweiss, ramondias and many other flowers bloom to the delight of the eyes.
